Up to a few years ago, I was working at a PCUSA church. I also used to be a student at Columbia Theological Seminary, a PCUSA seminary, before transferring to RTS. For those outside the terminology, the PCUSA is the more liberal branch of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, not to be confused with PCA, EPC, OPC, or others. Well, it seems that they have made steps to go ahead and approve of the ordination of practicing homosexuals in America. Albert Mohler discusses the vote here. Thoughts?

As a seminarian of another Reformed denomination, and who happens to be gay, I’m supportive of the change, but most of all I just hope it brings some sort of resolution to the issue so that the PCUSA can move on to more important issues.
It’s a tough one. No matter what the outcome is, feelings get hurt on this one.
I think scripture calls homosexuality sin. Can sinners be Clergy, hell yes, we’re all sinners. Obviously there’s a difference between sinning and recognizing it as sin, and just sinning and thinking it’s totally fine.
The question is, is homosexuality sin? I think the scriptures are clear that it is, aren’t they? Perhaps not.
Would love to hear arguments for homosexuality not being sin.
Well, I am a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary, served as a parish minister in the PCA and am a queer man. While I applaud the PCUSA for the courage it deomonstrated in an effort to move on past this distracting issue, it still remains to be seen as to whether or not it will make it through a majority of the presbyteries. I pray that it will and that the PCUSA can get on with being a witness and presence of our Lord in addressing far, far more important issues in our world.
